Back in 2012, I built a 4x4x4 LED cube with a friend and used an Arduino to drive it. Since then it’s been sitting on my shelf collecting dust, so I decided to try and turn it into a more permanent display while getting more experience with bare metal ARM programming. I’m using an LPC1114 chip connnected to a Nordic nRF8001 breakout board from Adafruit to act as the controller and drive the LED’s via latches. The goal is to have an Android app connect to the BLE chip and send desired scenes to the LPC to display. Currently I’m in the middle of implementing communication and setup of the nRF chip on the LPC.
NOTE: work on this project is temporarily put on hold while I concentrate on growing my Full-Stack Web development skills.
Will be posted soon!
